You Are What You Eat Smart Nutrition Tips

Published September 9, 2013

Many people are in need of nutrition improvement. Your diet may need a lot or a little work, but it depends on how good it is now. Follow the suggestions here to start making simple changes to improve your vitality and health. It’s time to actually think about what you eat and what your nutritional needs are.

Women who are pregnant or lactating should pay close attention to their nutrition. A woman who is pregnant should make sure she is getting enough protein. One way to meet your protein needs is make a smoothie with blended egg whites. An egg white is high in protein yet low in calories and has absolutely no fat making it a good protein source for women who are pregnant. Pasteurized eggs are recommended for avoiding health issues.

You should encourage drinking good amount of water over the course of the day. Aim to make milk or juice a treat with just a meal or two, and focus more on drinking water the rest of the day. Filling up with juice or milk makes a person less likely to have room for important meals.

When you are ill, eating foods with lots of zinc will make you feel better sooner. Your immune system is given a boost when you eat foods that provide zinc, so you will recover quickly and resist future illness. Some good sources of zinc are wheat germ, strawberries, pumpkin seeds, and peaches. As an added bonus, these nutritious treats are often packed with antioxidants.

Giving your body the nutrition it needs is necessary for a long, healthy life. The tips here will help you become much healthier. This could require a good bit of effort, or it may only require a little effort. This will depend entirely on how your diet is currently. Any person can improve their diet in order to improve their health and well-being.
