You Are What You Eat! Eat Better!

Published May 12, 2014

Nutrition means providing your body with what it needs to sustain life. There is a lot of information available regarding nutrition and eating healthy. How do you know where to start? It is usually best to do the basics. If you’re prepared to take the first step, read on!

Killing a junk food addiction will greatly assist you in improving the nutritional quality of your diet. Junk food cravings are generally caused by habits cultivated over a long period of time. After switching to a healthy way of eating, cravings for the old foods can persist. At the first sign of junk food cravings, reach for a healthy alternative.

Selenium is an important part of a healthy diet. Selenium is a mineral that promotes tissue elasticity and prevents skin aging due to its antioxidant properties. In addition, it provides your skin with protection from the sun’s UV rays and counteracts the damage that free radicals can cause. Some of these foods that have an abundant amount of selenium are Brazil nuts, garlic, brown rice, and eggs.

Eat broccoli. The amount of Vitamin K in broccoli is substantial. Moreover, it contains about two days worth of the essential vitamin C. Both of these vitamins help reduce cancer risks and build strong healthy bones. Steaming the broccoli, as apposed to boiling and microwaving, gives you the maximum amount of nutrition.

If you are short on time or just dislike taking the time to wash, slice and prepare fruits and vegetables, fruit juice is a good alternative. Fruit juices are a great way to get your daily dose of vitamins and mineral without have to waste time pealing, chopping and cooking. In order to stop your teeth from decaying, you should sip your juice with a straw.

In conclusion, to live a healthy life, you need to follow proper nutrition. While that can be challenging to do at times, it is necessary. Use the advice from this article and your life will soon be improved.
