Published August 31, 2012

How much do you really know about maintaining a healthy diet? Are you using a meal plan based on nutritional guidelines? Do you want to change your plan? Are you sure all your needs are being met? If you are unable to satisfactorily answer any of these questions with full confidence, then reading the following tips is sure to assist you.

Maintaining nutrition is important for good health, and potassium can help with this. Foods like bananas, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and beans are great sources of potassium. Potassium will help prevent heart disease, lowers blood pressure, keeps diabetes away and helps with many other ailments. Dairy products like milk, cheese and yogurt, are also rich in potassium.

For children, a baked potato is an healthy stand in for french fries. Sever the potato in half and use peas, cheese, and tomatoes to construct a smiley face on each half.

Teach your children great habits for nutrition by giving them your time and attention, rather than food. Reward your children with enthusiastic affection and praise instead. If your child gets a sugary treat every time he or she does well, they’ll think that these kinds of foods must be one of the tastiest available.

800 Calories

Use your daily caloric intake to provide your body with the wholesome food it needs. You’ll feel much better if you consume 1,800 calories in the form of whole grains, proteins, and vegetables, than if you decide to consume 1,800 calories in the form of sugar from snacks and treats. The kind of food you eat matters just as much as the quantity you eat.

Have you learned anything about nutrition? Is your nutrition plan better now? Are you able to incorporate your needs into your plan? Is your plan working for you? Hopefully, the information and techniques from this article gave you the right answers to the above questions.
