Take Control Of Your Health With These Nutrition Tips

Published May 23, 2013

When it comes to the topic of nutrition, many people often think of boring salads that include iceberg lettuce and hothouse tomatoes. Eating a healthy diet is fun, exciting, and a good way to stay in great health. As luck would have it, nutritionally balanced food can be delicious and adventurous. Try these simple tips to jump-start your efforts towards improving your nutrition, and start appreciating food as nourishment for your body.

Salads have long been thought of as health foods; however, the dressings many people use are unhealthy. Creamy dressings contain more calories and fat and are often lower in nutrients than vinaigrettes. Instead, opt for vinaigrette-style dressings or create your own simple dressing using olive oil and vinegar. Adding in some cranberries and walnuts to the salad makes it much tastier.

You should make sure you eat enough proteins daily. Your skin, muscles, internal organs and blood flow will all benefit from a healthy daily dose of protein. Proteins allow your cells to process normally and build energy metabolically. They help the body’s immune system fight illness and disease. Excellent sources of protein include fish, poultry, meats, tofu, milk products and grains.

One way to stay fit and healthy is to pack lunches instead of buying them. If you pack meals yourself, there is no need to rely on whatever unhealthy options may be available. It takes less than 10 minutes to whip up a nutritious, filling meal.

In order to achieve optimal nutrition, you need to consume at least 8 ounces of lean meat each day. This will assist you in meeting your protein and iron requirements for the day. Great protein sources include bison, venison and other lean cuts of meat.

As you can see, eating a balanced, nutritious diet is easy and fun. There is a lot of room for creativity in the world of food, so it is a wonderful way to enhance your quality of life without limiting yourself. These tips are only the beginning to a new, healthier you!
