Solid Fitness Advice For Senior Citizens Trying To Lose Weight

Published May 1, 2014

A lot of people practice fitness but think they cannot improve their level. However, it is possible to progress with a lot of hard work and patience. Making lifestyle changes will allow you to improve your health and reach your goals.

A lot of people regularly visit the gym and lift weights to improve their personal fitness. However, the following six exercises will get you into great shape without the gym membership: push-ups, handstand push-ups, pull-ups, bridges, leg raises, and squats.

Varying the exercises you participate in maximizes the benefits for your body. Those who are fit enough to run miles on a treadmill should be equally able to jog through their neighborhood streets. You will have more of a workout because you are not running on a flat surface. By having a variety when exercising, the body isn’t able to get used to any one exercise. This will keep it in shape while helping it to lose weight.

Try toning your arms by doing some push ups, this works the triceps very well. But, rather than doing a typical push up, you can get the best results by facing your hands inward at a 45 degree angle, making your fingers face one another. By doing this, you can tone up the muscles you normally don’t work.

You need to strengthen your thigh muscles if you want to protect your knees. One injury common to people who participate in sports is a ligament tear behind the knee. Make sure to exercise your quads as well as your hamstrings to prevent this from happening to you. One exercise that can help you build these muscles are leg curls.

Although improving your fitness is going to take a lot of work, you can do it! You will look better and you will feel better as well. Fitness encompasses all areas of your life, and improved fitness means an improved overall life.
