Nutrition Is An Essential Aspect To A Healthy Lifestyle

Published August 14, 2013

You don’t have to be a genius to life a healthy life. Here are suggestions to guide you into making good decisions on what you eat. There are lots of simple techniques to improve nutrition.

Eating fresh fruits and veggies daily is good nutrition advice. The USDA recommends that you eat at least 9 to 13 different servings of vegetables and fruits each day. It may seem like a large amount, but eating that amount is not so difficult. Orange juice at breakfast counts as a serving.

Riboflavin is essential for good health. Riboflavin is needed and used by the human body to release and use the energies from fats, carbs and protein. It’s also needed for a healthy metabolism and to transport iron. If you want to eat lots of riboflavin, head straight for the dairy products and whole grains.

Pregnant Women

When you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should stay healthy. It is imperative that pregnant women get sufficient protein in their diets, but pregnancy may make them not want to eat the right foods. Mix egg whites into a smoothie each morning to kick-start your day with a good amount of protein. Egg whites only have 15 calories, three grams of protein, and no fat so they are great for pregnant women. You should choose pasteurized eggs to make sure you don’t get salmonella.

You should really stay away from foods which contain a high amount of trans fat, like highly processed foods. You will be more likely to get a heart disease if you eat foods that contain a lot of trans fat. HDL, or good cholesterol, is depressed by trans fats, while bad cholesterol (LDL) occurs in higher levels.

When you begin using the above tips in your daily life, you’ll find it easier to make nutritious choices without having to think much about it. Once you get the basics, it gets easier to incorporate good nutrition into your daily life. Good health to you!
