Nutrition Everyone Should Follow

Published October 21, 2012

If you want to live for a long time, you have to eat well. A healthy diet can help you keep your bones and muscles strong, but it keeps your nails, hair and skin in great condition so you look healthy and well. Use the tips you are about to read to make your body as healthy as possible.

Always make sure you are eating enough. Undereating is just as harmful as overeating. When you do not eat enough, your glucose and insulin levels go down, resulting in you feeling hungry for sweet things. Try to eat five small meals a day to feel your best.

Do you want to reduce the amount of red meat you consume? If you want to, use it as a type of condiment. Meat can add texture and flavor to grain-based or vegetable dishes. The Mediterranean and Chinese cultures do just that and have a lower incidence of heart-related disease.

Healthy Fats

You should eat healthy fats every day. Healthy fats do not come from onion rings, burgers or french fries. You should always try to avoid these. Sources of healthy fats are seeds, nuts, olive oil and fish, and these should be consumed daily for optimal health.

Reduce the amount of meat used in recipes and work on adding mushrooms instead. There is scientific evidence that mushrooms are just as satisfying as meat. The texture probably has something to do with it. Additionally, mushrooms provide lots of fiber and nutrients and help in the fight against cancer.

Have you tried a healthy puree of peaches, pears or berries? This sweet spread is great for dipping pretzels or pitas. You can experiment with any type of fruit that you like and mix it up often, so you don’t get sick of this healthy snack.

As mentioned before, proper nutrition is essential for maintaining overall health. From your toes to your brain, nutrients makes everything work properly. Keep these tips in mind so that you’re getting the most out of your nutrition plan.
