
Did you know that males have mammary glands too? In most cases, the glands aren’t active and so breast tissue doesn’t grow. But sometimes breast tissue is active in men, causing a condition known as gynecomastia. New studies have found that gynecomastia may be linked to a variety of causes, from chemical exposure, hormone imbalances, and certain medications to the foods you eat, your sleep patterns, and potentially dangerous illnesses. The worst part of gynecomastia may not be finding clothing that helps to conceal the condition but the mental toll that it takes. For many men, feelings of shame and embarrassment about the condition can lead to depression and other mental health issues. But gynecomastia does not have to be a lifelong sentence.
