Diet Tips For A Healthy Nutritious Lifestyle

Published December 30, 2013

Nutrition is important for all aspects of your life, not just in diet, but also in exercise and more. A well balanced diet is important but it may seem difficult to do. It really not that hard. Keep reading to learn how to improve your health.

Make sure you’re getting enough fruits and veggies in your diet. The USDA recommends that you eat at least 9 to 13 different servings of vegetables and fruits each day. That may seem like a lot to you, but it’s fairly easy to get them all in. Drink real orange juice at breakfast or make tomato pasta for spaghetti.

Ending addiction to junk foods can be challenging, but extremely rewarding. It’s easy to get into the habit of eating junk food over the years because it is designed to provide quick satisfaction. After switching to a healthy way of eating, cravings for the old foods can persist. Make sure you understand these cravings and continue to replace them with healthier alternatives.

Dark Chocolate

Remember to enjoy pure dark chocolate rather than its watered down cousin, milk chocolate, or the impostor, white chocolate. Dark chocolate contains blood pressure lowering flavonoids not found in other chocolates. The antioxidants contained in the chocolate decrease your bad cholesterol, while increasing the good. For best results, eat chocolate that contains around 70% cocoa. Eat small quantities of chocolate since this food remains high in fat.

Do not focus too much on dessert. Do not eat more than a few desserts a week.

Choose baked foods over fried foods. Baked goods have fewer calories, less oil and are lighter in carbohydrates than fried goods. As an additional benefit, you are going to have more energy during your daytime hours when you eat good quality baked goods regularly.

If you keep these tips in mind, you can be on your way to a healthier diet by giving your body the nutrition it needs. When you get healthy, you are going to look and feel great, motivating you to keep eating better.
