Good nutrition should be a simple, cut and dry subject with clear guidelines that makes it easy to practice. Unfortunately, what is “right” when it comes to eating well isn’t always easy to discern; labeling variations, misinformation, contradictory reports and other inconsistencies can make it difficult to decide what you should be eating. Here are some tips that can help you make staying healthy a lifestyle and not a fad.
A great source of protein for your diet is Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt can replace sour cream in most recipes. The uses for the yogurt are limited only by your imagination, and it can be used almost anytime cream is called for. Greek yogurt is rich in protein; incorporating it into your meals will increase your protein, and you will not need to increase your meat consumption.
You should eat plenty of foods rich in calcium. Foods that contain a lot of calcium include green vegetables, beans, sardines, and of course, milk. Calcium is vital for maintaing bone strength, and keeping teeth healthy. If a person does not get enough calcium, the person can develop something called osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is is a long and painful process, and it is hard to endure soft and brittle bones.
Travel gradually along the road to good nutrition. If you try to change everything at one time you are more likely to find the task daunting and resume older unhealthy eating habits. If you gradually implement changes, you will be more likely to stick with your diet. Start with drinking flavored water instead of soda, or have some crunchy vegetables rather than chips. As these changes turn into habits, you can add a new set. Before long, you will find that your life has completely changed.

You have taken the initial steps necessary to begin positive changes in your consumption habits and once you put them into action you will be much happier and healthier for it!
